BP purchased many TV ads with Chief Executive Officer Tony Hayward issuing an apology and promising to "make this right."
The BP well opened fire after an explosion on the Deepwater Horizon drilling rig on April 20 that killed 11 people. The rig left up to 19,000 barrels (798,000 gallons) of oil pouring into the Gulf, according to federal estimates.
Protests are beginning to start today in 50 states, with angry americans demanding that all of BP's assets be frozen until the tragedy is under control.
